- Built as fire engine house for Colonel Green of Ampthill Brewery in 1902 - architect was Edwin Tutt. From 1920 used for Urban District Council and purchased by UDC in 1926. During WWII the fire station was requisitioned by National fire service and when this was disbanded fire services became the responsibility of the county councils, so returned to them. UDC then had to purchase again from County Council in 1954 for £1,540: converted to UDC offices. |
